  Ancient scriptures are filled with captivating mythological stories, and one such story is that of Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Vamana, meaning "dwarf" in Sanskrit, holds a special place in Vedic Story as one of the ten famous avatars of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vamana took the form of a short-statured celibate Brahmin boy with exquisite features. His purpose was to defeat the righteous and mighty demon king, Maha Bali, and restore the Devas to their rightful place in the kingdom. The story of Kurma Avatar, the second incarnation of Lord Vishnu, begins with the Deva Asura Sangram, a conflict between the gods and demons. Lord Vishnu intervened and suggested a halt to the fighting, but neither side agreed. To resolve the conflict, Lord Vishnu took on the form of Kurma, a tortoise. The story starts with Rishi Durvasa visiting Swarg Lok, the abode of the gods, and presenting a garland to Indra, the king of gods.
